Clareville Woods, Malahide
The client wanted to remodel their existing 1990’s dormer house principally by reconfiguring the living room and kitchen area by adding a large open plan extension that would maximise daylight and take advantage of the views of their garden. The interior was remodelled to provide an open plan kitchen and living space with a separate formal dining room of this space. The use of large sliding doors will allow the dining room to be opened up to rest of the open plan area should the need arise. The exterior of the extension is a dynamic zinc clad box with large glazed doors on the southern elevation. These doors can be opened back to allow the house connect directly with the garden and terrace.
The interior layout is based on the individual requirements of the clients and that changes provided a sense of openness and space, something taht lacked in the previous house layout.

House Extension and refurbishment in Templeogue
The project involved a full house internal refurbishment, external redecoration and a 40 sq m extension at the back of the property.
The new extension provides a bright and spacious dinig/kitchen space and connects the existing house with the garden with a modern architectural approach.

Extension in Baldoyle
The 40sqm extension to the end unit of a semi detached house provides an additional guest room at the front of the site, a wc/utility room and transforms the kitchen/living space in an open plan facing the back garden and connecting with it through two sets of large glazed double doors.

Project Architect while at NDBA Architects
This is a large 5 bedroom house on Westminster Road. There is an existing house on the site and the original proposal was to modify and extend this, but following a detailed structural investigation it was found to be in poor condition. As the existing house was of little architectural merit a decision was then taken to demolish it and replace it with the current design. The site is an Architectural Conservation Area and this along with the client’s tastes drove the external architectural treatment proposed. The house is laid out in a traditional arrangement with the southern wing housing the formal lounge and dining room with the master bedroom over and the northern end housing the informal kitchen, living and dining area, with the remaining bedrooms over. These two wings are separate by a large entrance hall which houses a grand staircase.
